"A Thankful Reminder to Remember" Search for Significance Series from Colossians #2

Rusty Guenther

One of the factors that can lead to a Christian growing complacent and comfortable in their relationship with God is our failure to remember just what it was that God did in us, for us, and through us when we accepted His offer of redemption through Jesus Christ.  The Dangers of a complacent and comfortable church are self-evident all around us in what we see happening in the American church today. The same was true in the early church of Colossae. As the Apostle Paul introduces his letter to that church (and to its present-day counterpart) he couches his language in Thanksgiving as a rhetorical device to call them to remember all that Jesus had done for them and by doing so, allows them to reflect on the transformative power of Faith, Love , Hope and the Word of God to reignite their passion to grow and serve, as well as standing up to the false teachings in their midst. We would do well to heed his reminder today.  From Colossians 1:3-8.
