Show Notes

It is easy to read Hebrews 11, the chapter described as the "Heroes of the Faith" as a lesson in how faith in God triumphs over everything but is that the whole story? The writer of Hebrews ends the chapter with a litany of very disturbing events that happened to those who placed their faith in God - tortured, flogged, stoned, even cut in half? This is not the sort of "feel good story" that many modern Christians seem to be looking for on Sundays, but it is a vital truth that we need to hear.  Nowhere does the Bible promise that living the life of a Christ follower would be easy - matter of fact, it promises just the opposite. This message examines the promises of God that every Christian can claim in the midst of storms and difficulties and for when it seems like your story can't possibly have a "happy ending". From Hebrews 11:32-40
