When did Christians stop being Dangerous? New Years Eve 2017
Show Notes
When you read in 2nd Corinthians 11:21-29 as Paul describes some of the things he endured and overcame while sharing the gospel, you can't help but thinking "dangerous". But why would this simple, old theologian be in danger or even dangerous to those around him? It wasn't who he was that made him dangerous, but rather his message. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:18 that the message of Jesus Christ was foolishness, or offensive to those who are lost and that made it dangerous. For the last 2000 years, history is filled with stories about the followers of Christ who have been considered dangerous by those in power, by those who protect the status quo, simply because they identified and lived out the message of Jesus Christ. So what happened? Are Christians in North America still dangerous? Or for the sake of accommodation or acceptance and approval have we watered down or removed the very parts of the message that made it dangerous, the very parts of the Word of God that releases the power to change lives? Where are the dangerous Christians in our communities, our churches, our nation? To understand the problem, we must first identify what it is about the message that makes it so dangerous and then examine ourselves to see if we are truly living out that message in our everyday lives. From 1 Corinthians 10:31-11:1
