When building a bridge one of the first and most important factors is determining the condition of the ground in which you are to build. Without a firm foundation, the strength and positioning of the bridge will always be compromised and the same is true with building spiritual bridges. In the introduction to this series we were reminded that one of our main responsibilities as followers of Jesus Christ is to strive to be peacemakers - in the reconciliation business. This week we begin to unpack what it means to be a "peacemaker" by examining the first principle for learning to build bridge that allows the good news and gospel to flow to a hurting and troubled world. We examine James 1:19-20 in context, to discover that one way to keep us from unintentionally building barriers is to "invite the Holy Spirit" into the planning and conversation before we say or do anything. Join us to find out what James is getting at by encouraging us to be "quick to listen and slow to speak".
